SUMMARY:Party Piece by Richard Harris
DESCRIPTION:Michael and Roma are meticulously preparing for their fancy dress housewarming party. Roma is treating the event like the coronation of the newest monarch\, with Michael thinking he is planning the Normandy landing\, as well as manning the barbeque with 5-star determination and the personality of Gordon Ramsey. \nMrs Hinson – who is not the biggest fans of her upper-class new neighbours – keeps a watchful and criticising eye on the attendees with the evening looking to be the social event of the neighbourhood. \nThat is until a series of hilarious disasters strike\, including an embarrassing lack of guests\, a burning barbeque\, a marauding Zimmer frame\, and a corpse showing up at the front door\, turning the party into a hilarious misadventure! \nDirected by Martin T. Brooks

SUMMARY:Blue Remembered Hills by Dennis Potter
DESCRIPTION:Join us in York Theatre Royal’s Studio for the deeply nostalgic Blue Remembered Hills by Dennis Potter.\nIt’s set in the summer of 1943 where a group of seven year olds are playing. We see them mimicking the bewildering adult world at war around them but their innocent laughter is tinged with cruelty. This play takes you from comedy to tragedy. A modern classic to savour.\n\nWednesday 18th – Saturday 28th February 2026.Evening shows 7:45pm with matinees on Saturday 21st and Saturday 28th at 2pm. Tickets £15.\n\nStick around after the performances on Friday 20th and Friday 28th February for a Post Show Discussion with the company.

SUMMARY:Underdog: The Other Other Brontë by Sarah Gordon
DESCRIPTION:Charlotte Brontë has a confession about how one sister became an idol\, and the other became known as the third sister. You know the one. No\, not that one. The other\, other one… Anne. \nYork Settlement Community Players present Sarah Gordon’s new and exciting play\, which premiered at The National Theatre in 2024. Underdog is an irreverent retelling of the life and legend of the Brontë sisters like you’ve never seen them before! \nThis is not a story about well-behaved women. This is a story about the power of words. It’s about sisters and sisterhood\, love and jealousy\, support and competition. \nAn Amateur production presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. \nAge guidance: 12+. The production contains some explicit language\, themes of grief/death and addiction. It includes a depiction of attempted suicide.
