Loot
February 18 - February 27

By Joe Orton
Directed by Katie Leckey
“Has anybody ever hidden money in a coffin?”
York Settlement Community Players are proud to present Joe Orton’s Loot. A masterfully scandalous, free-wheeling and ferocious farce about life’s ultimate taboo…death.
Content guidance
Joe Orton wrote Loot in 1965, and the script is deliberately controversial and thought-provoking – tackling some very dark themes and including satirical attitudes on the Roman Catholic Church, the police force and how society views death. The YCSP production stays largely close to the original script and as such has an age guidance of 16+. The show contains adult themes and offensive language (including sexism and xenophobia). There are also sexual references and references to sexual assault (including rape and necrophilia) and references to smoking on stage.
